Задание

You work in IT Department. Write an email to your co-worker about data security in your company. Talk about:

• what security problems there are in your company

• what security measures there are in your company

• what threats there are to computers

• what particular type of software would be helpful and why.

You should write 140-160 words.

NOTE

• It has to be short and specific. For example, Things to do is short and vague while Things to do for students’ competition is short and specific (see the Model at the end).

5. Greeting

• You need to realize if your email is more formal or less formal and choose an appropriate greeting. Dear Mr. Nike, is good for a formal email. Dear John, is good for a less formal email. Hi Mary, is good for an informal email. Take care of a comma in your greeting.

• Emails in the workplace are usually less formal than academic writing but more formal than spoken conversation.

*Points 6 and 7 are interchangeable. You need to write what security problems and security measures there are in your company, what threats there are to computers, what particular type of software would be helpful and why. You can decide what comes first, what comes then and what comes at the end. The main point and context should sound polite, logical and more formal than spoken conversation. Do not use any jargon. Do write more than two paragraphs. It is better to have four shorter paragraphs than two longer ones.

8. Closing paragraph

• Closing paragraph has to sound as polite as the body of your email. Thanks or Thank you or Thank you for… is good for a less formal email. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon or I am looking forward to seeing you soon or I am looking forward to… is good for any email.

9. Sign-off

• You need to remember if your email is more formal or less formal and choose an appropriate sign-off. Sincerely, is good for a formal email. Best, or All the best, or Best regards, or Kind regards, is good for a less formal email. Talk soon, or Cheers, or See you, is good for an informal email. Take care of a comma in your sign-off.
